Grand Home Health Services is currently hiring Special Instructors (SI) to provide developmental instruction for preschool-aged children with developmental delays or disabilities in early childhood classroom and community settings.

Special Instructors implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), support developmental skill building, and collaborate with therapists and educational teams.

Starting Rate: $50 per hour

Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field.

All employees must obtain required Pennsylvania clearances and mandatory trainings prior to employment.

About the Position

Grand Home Health Services is seeking qualified Special Instructors (SI) to provide developmental instruction and early intervention services to preschool-aged children with developmental delays or disabilities.

The Special Instructor works directly with children, families, and classroom staff to support the child’s cognitive, communication, social-emotional, adaptive, and play skills in accordance with the child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Special Instructors collaborate with:

• Speech-Language Pathologists
• Occupational Therapists
• Behavior Specialists
• Early childhood educators
• School district staff

Services are typically provided in preschool classrooms, early childhood education programs, and community learning environments.


Minimum Education Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree required in one of the following or a closely related field:
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Special Education
  • Child Development
  • Psychology
  • Education
  • Human Services
  • A Master’s degree is preferred but not required.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide developmental instruction aligned with the child’s IEP goals
• Support development in communication, social interaction, play, problem solving, and early learning skills
• Implement instructional strategies appropriate for children with developmental delays
• Collect and document progress monitoring data
• Collaborate with therapists and educational staff to support the child’s development
• Provide family coaching and guidance when appropriate
• Participate in IEP meetings and educational planning when requested
• Maintain accurate documentation in approved systems such as Sprout
• Ensure services are delivered within required Early Intervention timelines
• Maintain professional communication with school staff and families
• Follow all FERPA confidentiality requirements


Required Pennsylvania Clearances

All employees must obtain and maintain the following clearances prior to employment.

Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34)
Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 33)
FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114) when required by PA residency guidelines
Act 168 Employment History Review
TB screening if required by the assigned educational setting

Employment cannot begin until all clearances are verified.


Required Training

All Special Instructors must complete and maintain the following training requirements:

Act 126 Child Abuse Recognition Training
Praesidium Abuse Prevention Training
FERPA Confidentiality Training (annual)
Elwyn Physical Safety Management Training
• Participation in RMTS (Random Moment Time Study) when selected
• Ongoing professional development and continuing education related to early childhood intervention

Additional training may be required depending on the needs of the assigned child.


Work Environment

Services are typically provided in:

• Preschool classrooms
• Childcare centers
• Head Start programs
• Early learning environments

Special Instructors work directly with children in natural learning environments and collaborate with the educational team supporting the child.


Compensation

Starting pay is $50.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Compensation may be subject to periodic review based on performance, experience, and operational needs.
