Grand Home Health Services is currently hiring Behavior Support Specialists (BSS) to provide behavioral support services for preschool-aged children with autism, developmental disabilities, and behavioral challenges in classroom environments. 

Behavior Support Specialists support children with behavioral, emotional, and social-emotional needs by implementing behavioral intervention strategies, assisting with behavior support plans, and collaborating with therapists and educational professionals. 

Starting Rate: $40 per hour  

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Human Services, Special Education, or related field preferred
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children or children with behavioral challenges strongly preferred 

All employees must obtain required Pennsylvania clearances and mandatory trainings prior to employment. 

About the Position

Behavior Support Specialists work directly with children, educational staff, therapists, and families to support positive behavioral outcomes and improve the child’s ability to safely and successfully participate in classroom activities and daily routines. 

BSS staff assist with behavioral observations, implementation of Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP), behavioral data collection, and classroom behavioral support strategies. 

Behavior Support Specialists operate collaboratively with Special Instructors, Behavior Analysts, Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Educational staff and families. 


Position Responsibilities

  • Provide behavioral support services within preschool and early learning environments
  • Assistwith implementation of behavioral intervention strategies and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) 
  • Support children with emotional regulation, social interaction, communication, and classroom participation
  • Conduct behavioral observations andassistwith data collection 
  • Monitorand document behavioral responses and progress 
  • Collaborate with therapists, teachers, and educational teamsregardingbehavioral concerns and strategies 
  • Support classroom staff and caregivers with behavioral implementation strategies
  • Maintaincontinuous awareness of child safety and behavioral concerns 
  • Document required service notes and observations in approved systems
  • Report behavioral incidents, injuries, safety concerns, or crisis situationsimmediatelyaccording to agency and school district policies 
  • Maintainprofessional communication with classroom staff, supervisors, and families 
  • Follow all confidentiality requirements under FERPA and applicable privacy laws

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree inEducation, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Human Services, Special Education and Related field preferred  
  • Two (2) years of experience working with preschool-aged children preferred
  • Experience supporting children with autism spectrum disorders or behavioral challenges strongly preferred
  • Strong behavioral management and communication skills preferred

Required Pennsylvania Clearances


 

Required Training

  • Praesidium Abuse Prevention Training  
  • FERPA Confidentiality Training  
  • Elwyn Physical Safety Management Training  
  • CPR and First Aid Certification 
    (Certifications must remain current at all times)

All Behavior Support Specialists must: 

  • Maintain professional boundaries with children and families
  • Follow all agency policies and school district procedures
  • Protect the confidentiality of all student information
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and punctuality
  • Work cooperatively with therapists, teachers, and supervisors
  • Immediately report any safety concerns, behavioral incidents, or mandated reporting situations

Work Environment

Services are typically provided in: 

  • Preschool classrooms
  • Childcare centers
  • Head Start programs
  • Early learning environments

Most assignments involve supporting children within classroom and educational settings during school hours. 


Compensation

Starting pay is $40 per hour.
